THY WILL BE DONE
Words & Music by Jim Turner
Intro Piano
Verse 1
Could I give up all for thee if that is what is asked of me
To turn and humbly walk away and follow thy spirit come what may
The road ahead no longer clear but thy spirit guides so I do no fear
With time and place already set the Lord’s timetable must be met
Chorus
Thy will be done this day thy will be done Oh Lord
Thy will be done
Verse 2
Would I have the faith to go along the road I do not know
To leave behind a friend so dear and turn from a path that seemed so
clear
That day has come the test is here the choice I make so hard yet clear
To give up one so dear to me because the Lord has asked of me
Chorus
Thy will be done this day thy will be done Oh Lord
Thy will be done
Verse 3
Be patient and all will be known yet inside I feel my spirit groan
The test, this test so hard for me but I know my Lord it needs to be
My heart dear Lord is known to thee a faithful servant I strive to be
To build thy kingdom on this earth I must pass this test to prove my
worth

Thy will be done this day thy will be done Oh Lord
Thy will be done

1 Peter 1: 7 & 4: 19, James 4: 13-15, 1 John 2: 15-17
Verse 1
Could I give up all for thee if that is what is asked of me
We are here on earth to learn and grow through the things
we experience be they good or bad and it is how we respond to what happens
that makes the difference we can be bitter and angry or we can look for
positives even in the worst situation there is always someone else worse
off.
At times we will have to sacrifice something so special it seems impossible
to find something good coming from it
but in hindsight we will see how we have grown from the experience and
have probably been able to help someone else going through a similar trial.
(1 Peter 1: 7)
To turn and humbly walk away and follow thy spirit
come what may
When one door closes another opens and things happen in
a timetable the Lord has prepared which is often difficult for us to understand
as we only see a little picture which revolves around us and our wants
not the big picture that is focussed on helping us to learn for eternity
because God knows we need to learn not just what we want. (1 Peter 4:
19)
The road ahead no long clear but thy spirit guides so I do no fear
When what we had planned falls apart we need to have faith
in the Lord He will guide us along the path He has prepared for us but
we can also choose to ignore Him if we wish to do so
With time and place already set the Lord’s timetable
must be met
The Lord has a timetable in place for each of us and there
are consequences for our actions a worldy example would be if we choose
to stay out partying and get drunk we wake up feeling really bad the next
morning but if we had not got drunk and gone home early and had a good
nights sleep we would wake up feeling much better we can listen to the
Lord and He will guide us or we can ignore Him and learn by trial and
error from our mistakes. (1 John 2: 15-17)
Chorus
Thy will be done this day thy will be done Oh Lord
We need to accept the will of the Lord and His timing
in all things and as we do this we will be guided by the Holy Ghost and
blessed as we follow the path He has prepared for us
Thy will be done
Verse 2
Would I have the faith to go along the road I do not know
At times we have our life planned out and what we have
decided to do seems very clear
however suddenly everything seems to fall apart and we find ourselves
going in a different direction this is where we need to trust in the Lord
and lean not on our own understanding.
To leave behind a friend so dear and turn from a path
that seemed so clear
Everything happens for a reason and sometimes it can feel
like our world has fallen apart and nothing will take away the hurt we
feel however life goes on and we later see how what seemed a disaster
at the time has probably been for the best. (James 4: 13-15)
That day has come the test is here the choice I make
so hard yet clear
To give up one so dear to me because the Lord has asked of me
We are here to learn and grow and at times the Lord will
test us to see how we will respond in a given situation be it good or
bad. A well known example is when Abraham was asked to offer his only
son as a sacrifice and he went as far as raising the knife before the
Lord said to stop and while most people won't be tested in this way some
tests we may face will test us to our limit
Verse 3
Be patient and all will be known yet inside I feel my spirit groan
The test, this test so hard for me but I know my Lord it needs to be
The Lord's timing can really test us and learning to be
patient can be a demanding task especially if we feel we are ready. At
times we can also be too critical of ourselves because we repeat the same
mistakes over and over again but we should keep trying and when we pray
mention the problem and ask God to help us overcome it
My heart dear Lord is know to thee a faithful servant I strive
to be
To build thy kingdom on this earth I must pass this test to prove my worth
The Lord sees our heart He knows us better than we know
ourselves He feels sad when we fail but happy when we succeed and He knows
our strengths and weaknesses better than we do. So the tests we have along
the way are designed to prepare us for the future in ways we never could
imagine so we can accomplish the work He has planned for us to do for
Him.
